HNPEA was founded in 1965 to provide recreation activities for children and adults. It is an nonprofit corporation solely dependant of local Donations. Programs ate located on leased land from The kellogg Church in Harpswell Center.  Tennis and Basketball courts are available plus a Summer Children’s Program (age 6 – 14) during July each summer.  Past years have hosted Adult Tennis Tournaments as needed.

Holbrook Community Foundation is a non-profit organization in Cundy’s Harbor that operates Holbrook’s — a commercial fishing wharf, snack bar, store and historic house which contains apartments and a photographic gallery. The general store (207-725-0022) and snack bar (207-729-9050) are open May to September. HCF sponsors community events including lobster crate races at the annual Cundy’s Harbor Days in August and a Labor Day Breakfast on the Wharf.

The Mingo Club’s mission is preservation of Library Hall on Bailey Island. The Hall is a historic building listed on The National Registry of Historic Places.
The hall is available for the benefit and enjoyment of the community and sponsors public education in conjunction with The Bailey Island Library Board of Directors.
They hold two annual fundraising events each year to support the hall.  The functions are an Ice Cream Social on July 4th and the annual Country Fair on the fourth Saturday in July. (July 27, 2013.)

The famous psychologist Carl Jung’s first seminar in the United States was held at Library Hall in 1936.

The Old Orr’s Island Schoolhouse sits next to our main station on Harpswell Islands Road on Orr’s Island

The historic building, where generations of island residents attended school, has been fully renovated in recent years. It is now managed by the fire department and used for community and social events.

The schoolhouse is available for rent for receptions, parties, art sales and other events. It has a full kitchen, rest room and wheelchair access.
